Prof. Antonio Giordano, Director of the Sbarro Research Institute, USA
Antonio Giordano, MD, PhD, best known as the discoverer of the tumour suppressor gene Rb2 / p130, is the president and founder of the Sbarro Health Research Organization (SHRO), which conducts research for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of cancer, the cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and other chronic diseases. He is Professor of Biology at Temple University in Philadelphia (USA) and at the Department of Medicine, Surgery and Neuroscience at the University of Siena (Italy). He is the author of more than 400 peer-reviewed publications and chapters in academic papers and he is member too of the editorial boards of several professional journals. He works also as auditor of calls in federal and international agencies. Dr. Giordano has been mentor to over 200 students in graduate and post-doctoral, including international researchers. In addition, Antonio Giordano is the director of the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine and the Center for Biotechnology at Temple’s College of Science & Technology.
